Founded in 1994 Cecil Sanders is the sole Principal and General Manager of CHS Construction Company. Headquartered in the historic Sandstone Building in Newark, New Jersey. Originally organized as a restoration and alterations specialist, CHS has expanded its base of expertise to include commercial, residential, industrial and public alterations and additions as well as new construction in all areas of real estate development.
CHS is one of the few minority owned general contractors in the City of Newark with a sales volume in excess of $3.5 million dollars. As Principal of CHS Construction, Mr. Sanders has completed a number of challenging renovation projects which involved phase construction as well as continuous occupancy. With expertise as Construction Manager/Contractor insight with constructability, trade negotiations, site conditions, and a myriad of other interests regarding the successful completion of a client’s project CHS has the
privilege of working with many repeat clients over the 39 years in construction services, which is a testament, of course, to the outstanding service provided.

Cecil Christopher Sanders is a Construction Manager, Project Manager and Project Architect at CHS Construction Co.
Chris earned his Bachelors of Architecture from Hampton University, Va. in 1995. He finished at the top of his class, and was voted Mr. Architecture '95. He began his professional career with Wilson Woodridge Architects in East Orange, NJ, and within the 1st year, he was appointed lead designer for a new building commissioned by the Urban League of Essex County a national nonprofit organization. He later spent 10 years at Johnson Jones Architects Planners, Inc., in Princeton, NJ, as head of the firm’s Church and Residential Design Department. He is also, President and part owner of WSM Associates LLC, which is an Architectural Design, Project Management, Web Design and Building Maintenance Company.
His areas of expertise also include commercial, educational, health centers, governmental facilities, restaurants, community centers and retail spaces.

Chris believes that once a project starts a marriage is formed between the client and architect, "the project becomes that families baby", and it is OUR duty to raise a healthy, stable and successful project TOGETHER, as a team".
Lastly Chris also loves to give back, he heads Wisdom Shapes Minds Community Development Corporation (WSMCDC), www.wsmcdc.com a Non-Profit Corporation, who has united a group of 20 professionals, to implement elective programs, into schools, churches, non-profit organizations, juvenile detention centers and businesses. WSMCDC is focused on teaching the community young and old, the elements of wellness & healing, the program is called "How to Create a Visionary with an Architect's Mind".
